And I felt like I was at the hem of His garment, that my face was just embedded in His hem. American woman Debra Henson shares how she died and experienced both hell and Heaven before meeting Lord Jesus (vegetarian)
Debra grew up with a strong Pentecostal Christian foundation. At three or four years old, she nearly drowned in a river when caught in a whirlpool, but remembers seeing streams of golden light playing with her underwater— a memory of peace that stayed with her. Despite her father forbidding talk of God in his home after his divorce, Debra maintained her faith, walking eight blocks alone to a Baptist church as a child.
At sixteen, Debra attended a party where someone had laced the cake and drinks with a dangerous asthma drug called scopolamine belladonna. She and a friend fell into a three-day, three-night hallucinogenic state. Weeks later, the poisoning’s residual effects triggered a severe asthma attack. While sleeping in her mother’s home, Debra stopped breathing. Her mother couldn’t revive her despite slapping and screaming, and finally began praying desperately to God.
During this time, Debra left her body and entered darkness. A being cloaked in black guided her upward. As they ascended, Debra saw two distinct areas on either side.
On the left side of me, it seemed like a horse corral. A big horse corral filled with like the gnashing and the gashing of the teeth like it says in the Bible, and the uncertainty, and the horror and the crying and the screaming—like hell. And we ascended forward, and then on the right side of me, it was like another area that seemed like a corral. It seemed like I was on the fence, like he was showing me I was on the fence or something in-between, not knowing whether I was going to Heaven or hell. And he was showing me that there definitely was a hell. But then he was showing me there’s definitely a Heaven, because it was the most joyful, peaceful, serene, loving—I cannot explain it enough how joyful and peaceful the area was that was on the right side of me. It was like [the Bible] says, you can’t be on the fence. You can’t be in the middle. You have to know whether you want to go to Heaven or you want to go to hell. There’s a real place for both. And there’s no joke about that. It really exists.
The cloaked being then stopped and backed away, communicating that Debra had to walk the rest of the way alone— something everyone must do by themselves. She continued ascending and saw a pinpoint of Light ahead that suddenly expanded into overwhelming brightness.
It was like, whoosh— all of a sudden, I was in just brightness, brightness. I like to say “like the light of the Sun”— it was the Son. And I felt like I was at the hem of His garment, that my face was just embedded in His hem. It’s such a joyful, peaceful place when you’re going there.
Debra told the Figure, Whom she felt was Lord Jesus, that she believed she was unworthy to be there.
After saying, “Lord, you know, you’ve got this all wrong. I don’t belong here,” He said, “Turn around and look over your right shoulder.” And so I turned to look over my right shoulder. And then it was an even brighter Light. I compare it to a fluorescent light compared to a regular light.
After seeing the brighter Light behind her, Debra woke up, returning to her body gasping as her mother told her to get up and go to the hospital.
After returning, Debra received an impartation: she could foresee when people were soon to die. She warned many, who often passed within two weeks, to accept Lord Jesus as their Savior and avoid the hell she saw in her near-death experience. Yet the burden became unbearable, especially with loved ones. She begged God to remove it, and He did.
At 19, facing lifelong asthma medication from the poisoning, Debra threw away her inhalers and declared she would live or die in God’s hands. She was instantly and permanently healed. She later experienced other healings, including restored sight in a blind eye.
Looking back on everything, Debra’s message is clear and urgent.
You do not have much time on this Earth. And God is telling me you need to get your affairs in order; that you need to seek Jesus now. The Holy Spirit lives within us. Fear not. Put on the full armor of God. You’re not alone, and you never will be. As soon as you leave your body, you will be in the presence of the Lord. And it is the most joyful thing that anyone could ever experience. (Heaven Encounters with Randy Kay)
