Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Tony Cicoria shares his near-death experience in which he discovered the God Energy.
In 1994, Dr. Tony attended a family gathering at Sleepy Hollow Lake [US]. While calling his mother from a pay phone, lightning struck the phone, hitting him in the face and throwing him backward. Yet he felt himself moving forward, bewildered to see the dangling phone as his mother-in-law screamed past him. Turning, he saw his body on the ground, realizing, “I’m dead.”
The transition was natural, moving from physical to spiritual form. A nurse waiting for the phone began CPR [cardiopulmonary resuscitation]. Dr. Tony tried to communicate but was unseen and unheard. He retained full mental clarity, thinking as he normally would, and realized that his spirit was eternal, exclaiming, “There’s no such thing as death.” His body seemed like an empty shell, a costume over his true self. Unafraid, he accepted this as reality.
Attempting to check on his family, Dr. Tony started up the stairs, but by the third step his legs began to dissolve. By the top, he was a formless ball of energy. Passing through a wall, he appeared above his wife, painting children’s faces. He memorized the scene and later verified with her that it was real. Rising through the roof, he entered a river of bluish-white Light radiating love and peace, “the God Energy”— source of all. He felt pure love, an earth-shaking realization. A collage of his life’s highs and lows appeared without commentary as he flowed in the ecstatic stream.
Suddenly, pain yanked him back. Dr. Tony’s body burned as if struck by hot pokers from head to feet. Though he loved his family, he begged not to return, overwhelmed by bliss on the other side. After the nurse stopped CPR, he finally opened his eyes. Vision blurry, he mumbled about being a doctor. Opting not to go to the hospital, he consulted cardiologist and neurologist friends, who confirmed his survival was remarkable.
Dr. Tony now believes reality is a continuum, with the spirit evolving through reincarnation, learning, and healing to rejoin the Source. Life is a proving ground, where service to others drives spiritual growth. He sees death as a change of form, not an end, and says knowing this firsthand forever transforms one’s view of life (Coming Home)
