Take joy in looking after your elderly community while looking after yourself. Here are a few health tips to help. Sitting for long periods weakens muscles, slows circulation, and increases the risk of heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes. It is important to move regularly throughout the day. Gentle leg exercises, such as standing up from a chair a few times, light squats with support, or lifting each leg while seated, help maintain strength and balance. Regular movement reduces fall risks and preserves mobility, while yoga can stretch the body, ease joint pain, and relax the mind. In addition, getting enough sleep is equally vital, as lack of rest can cause memory loss, stress, fatigue, and a higher risk of illness. Sunlight provides natural Vitamin D, which strengthens bones, boosts immunity, reduces pain, and enhances mood, so spend at least 10 minutes outdoors close to midday with skin exposed. Letting natural light into the home is beneficial for health also.
