Broccoli or cauliflower— which veggie wins for health and the planet? Experts say both are cruciferous vegetables that boost gut health, immunity, and cancer prevention through antioxidants and fiber. Broccoli has a slight nutritional edge with more protein, fiber, and vitamin C, while cauliflower provides folate and choline, supporting brain and cellular function. Alternating between broccoli and cauliflower as part of a whole-food vegan diet allows one to enjoy a full range of nutrients while contributing to a more sustainable planet (One Green Planet)
Finnish study finds replacing red and processed animal-people meat with legumes (beans and lentils) can help people lose weight without cutting calories. In a six-week trial involving 102 men, those who ate more legumes lost more weight than the animal-people meat-eating group, despite consuming more calories. The bean eaters’ bad cholesterol (LDL) also improved significantly thanks to the fiber and healthy unsaturated fats in legumes—suggesting that simply swapping animal-people meat for vegan proteins can improve heart health without calorie-restrictive dieting (One Green Planet)

American minister and former inmate Reverend Kenneth McDonald was given 70 years to life in prison. He shares how he died, went to hell - and got out. Kenneth grew up without Bibles or church. His single mother practiced Egyptian Wiccan witchcraft, and though no one forced him, he grew curious and studied it. He didn’t realize at the time that though Wicca differs from satanism, both lead to the same dark path connected to satan.
At 15, Kenneth ran away, living on the streets, stealing, using drugs, and committing crimes. In 1996, just after turning 18, he was arrested for robbery and attempted murder after shooting a man five times. He received 70 years in Nevada State Prison. Inside, Kenneth joined a gang immediately and lived violently— selling drugs, fighting, stabbing, and drinking. He also deepened into Wiccan practice, eventually becoming a “high priest,” leading ceremonies, and trying to pull Christians away from their faith.
In December 2020, Kenneth and his cellmate James, a lapsed Christian, were cleaning their new cell when something happened that changed both their lives. As James stood near the door, Kenneth saw a man come through the wall behind him—floating eight inches [20 centimeters] above the floor, wearing glowing golden clothes, holding a board and pen. He had no wings or halo, but he radiated angelic beauty. The figure wrote silently for about 40 seconds. Kenneth froze, staring in wonder. When James turned and saw the figure, he panicked, covering his head and crying, “No, no, please!” Despite the fear, a deep peace filled the cell— something that never happens in prison. The figure looked at them, wrote for a few more seconds, then went back through the wall. Both men compared notes and described exactly the same vision. They spoke about it for months, unsure who or what the being was.
One day, exactly a year later, Kenneth suddenly felt strange, drank water, sat down on his prison bed, and died. He was dead for about 20 minutes before medics revived him in the ambulance with shocks and injections. During that time, Kenneth found himself in a silent valley— no man-made things, just rubble. In the distance stood a man, not the golden one, watching him with a look of sorrow and disappointment, like a father toward a wayward son. Kenneth felt deep shame and saw gray smoke rising from himself until he was surrounded by total darkness. Then he began reliving every wrong he had ever done—every crime, lie, and hurt—feeling it from the victim’s view. He wept uncontrollably; he never knew the pain he had caused to so many. Kenneth’s mouth burned like fire; lightning ran between his teeth. Each time he opened his mouth, it burned worse. He realized his own words had condemned him. “I was forced to retell or restate every lie, every foul thing I ever said to somebody, every hurtful word I said to somebody, every misleading half-lie, full lie, and just insult that I ever said to another. Every time I sinned out of my mouth, I said it again. And I tried to keep my mouth closed, but you can’t. You’re forced to say it again. And as soon as you open your mouth, it’s like oxygen to a fire. And it burned, and I would just “ah,” and you could… It is… It is so horrible. And even then I was crying. I could have filled an Olympic pool up 10 times over with my tears. But your tears never make it down to your mouth.” Kenneth’s agony seemed endless. In life, he had been stabbed, beaten, run over— but none of it compared to the torment he experienced in hell. “And I begged for death. I said, ‘Just kill me, man. I don’t want no more of this.’ But you won’t have too many of those thoughts, because you know death ain’t coming.”
After what felt like eons of torture, Kenneth heard a voice ask, “Do you want to live or die?” Kenneth had never done prison programs to better himself. He thought, why, with 70 years? But he decided he’d rather go back to his dirty prison cell and die there over one more second of this hell-punishment. He said, “I want to live.” The torment began to fade. His tears of pain turned to gratitude—true gratitude, deeper than he’d ever known. The fog lifted, and he was again in the valley, facing the man who looked at him knowingly. Then, in an instant faster than light, he was transported to a place of indescribable beauty and love. Five spirits stood nearby, glowing like amber light. Overwhelmed, Kenneth fell to his knees and tried to beg to stay, but when he opened his mouth, music came out instead— beautiful melody without words. One spirit looked at him with pure love and joy, as if to say, “I felt that when I got here too.”
Kenneth got up and looked forward. Though he had practiced witchcraft and opposed Christianity, he recognized God’s Presence at once. “You know without a doubt it’s God’s Glory washing down on you. It’s God’s Glory! And it’s amazing in so many ways, it’s beautiful.” The golden sky of Heaven shimmered like liquid light. Everything was soft yet solid, alive with color. Kenneth heard music— melodies and chimes flowing like living sound, never repeating, each part new and more perfect than the last.
All of Kenneth’s questions were instantly answered. He knew Jesus Christ (vegetarian) was real, the Lord and Savior. The love and peace were beyond anything earthly. Kenneth understood that sin stains the heart, dimming the spirit’s Light. Cussing stains lightly, feather-like, almost see-through, while murder stains black as night, heavy as the world. A clean heart lets one live close to God; sin makes the spirit heavy and asleep. Heaven’s blessings flow like light, but sin blocks them. God was showing him why purity of heart matters— to awaken the spirit and receive His Blessings.
Then Kenneth was back— in the hospital, alive. Four months later, he returned to prison, completely changed. He couldn’t use curse words or return to old violent habits, even when he tried. He often wept alone in his cell, feeling sorrow for how people treated one another. One day, a gang of 20 prisoners confronted him with knives, calling him crazy. The leader asked Kenneth why he wasn’t scared of them. Kenneth said calmly, “Every day, you guys come to my door and ask me about what I’d seen on the other side. I have no fear; I know what’s next, I know where I’m going.” They tried to kill him, but Kenneth survived. He never felt hatred toward them— only forgiveness, fueled by his hell experience. “Because I don’t want anybody—not one person, not even the people that tried to kill me— to ever go to judgment.”
Eventually, Kenneth was moved to begin preaching the gospel. When he later went before the parole board— without programs or preparation— they released him from prison over 40 years early. Kenneth says it was pure Grace. The golden man had recorded his heart years before. God saw it was open, not too hard to change. He knew Kenneth could receive Grace. That is why He saved him from hell to Heaven. Now Reverend Kenneth ministers on YouTube (@KennethMcDonald-i2l) He says real freedom is in Christ, better than leaving prison. He recalls that when he got parole papers, he just put them down. He was already free. (Heaven Encounters with Randy Kay)
